It was just another day for Claire Hudson in Mac’s Grub Shak in Spring Hill, Tennessee. In between her mundane job of taking orders and cleaning tables, Claire had no idea someone was about to do something very special for her that afternoon.
Mac’s Grab Shak is just a typical diner down the street.
A few days prior, a man went inside the diner. Claire approached him with a smile and took his order of two beers, a spicy burger, and a Mac’s special Coney Island Dog.
The man finished his meal, paid, and then left without a word.
But it was really Claire who was about to be out of words a few moments later…
At first, Claire was pleasantly surprised to see a $36 tip when she went to clean the customer’s table. Just as she was about to throw the receipt away, she noticed a handwritten note on the back.
Claire flipped the receipt and burst into tears.
“Today is my brother’s b-day,” he wrote on the back of his receipt. “He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-Day Wes.”
