Millionaire Robert Durst Arrested After Saying He "Killed Them All" In HBO Doc

NEW ORLEANS - Robert Durst was arrested on suspicion of murder on the same day as the airing of a documentary in which he appeared to confess to several killings.

Durst was arrested at a New Orleans hotel by FBI agents acting on a warrant issued by Los Angeles prosecutors. He's the subject of the six-part HBO documentary The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. In the series finale aired Sunday night, Durst went into a washroom after being interviewed and, while still wearing his wireless microphone, muttered to himself:
"There it is, you're caught. What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course."

The private confession came after Durst was presented by filmmakers with evidence that appeared to connect him to a killing. While the confession seems damning, his legal team maintains his innocence and will likely try to have the recording ruled inadmissable in court.
Durst, who's part of a family of New York real estate moguls, is accused of the execution-style killing of his friend Susan Berman at her Los Angeles home in 2000. It's believed Berman knew details of the disappearance of Durst's wife Kathie in 1982. Although prosecutors arrested Durst for the Berman killing, they are also reportedly investigating Durst's possible role in Kathie's disappearance.
Durst also admitted to killing and dismembering his elderly neighbor Morris Black in 2001, but was acquitted of murder after claiming he acted in self-defense. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges and spent about three years in prison.
The Durst family, which is reportedly worth at least $4 billion, cut ties with Robert Durst in 2006 in exchange for a multi-million dollar settlement. Responding to news of Durst's arrest, his brother Douglas said in a statement, "We hope he will finally be held accountable for all he has done.
